Outside of some minor bumps and bruises, the USC Trojans have stayed relatively healthy throughout spring camp. They don’t have any long-term injury concerns, but head coach Lincoln Riley did announce that safety Christian Pierce will be shut down for the rest of the spring.
Riley did not disclose the injury or say how severe it was, but it sounded like it was more of a lingering issue, and they are shutting him down as a precaution. We assume he will be available for the summer workouts and fall camp.
USC Trojans Safety Christian Pierce Shut Down For Rest Of Spring Camp

Pierce was a 3-star recruit in the 2023 class out of Rancho Cucamonga High School.
As a true freshman in 2023, he played in 10 games, mostly on special teams, and recorded 7 tackles. Last season, he continued his stellar special teams play, appearing in 13 games and recording 8 total tackles.
The USC Trojans have a pretty loaded safety room, but Pierce has developed nicely and has garnered great reviews from the coaching staff. He will certainly compete for playing time with Kamari Ramsey and Bishop Fitzgerald.
Here is the current safety room:
- Christian Pierce
- Kamari Ramsey
- Bishop Fitzgerald
- Marquis Gallegos
- Steve Miller (Freshman)
- Kendarius Reddick (Freshman)
- Brandon Sheperd
D’Anton Lynn and Doug Belk love to rotate different pieces in the secondary, so if healthy, Pierce should start to see his role expanded from special teams this season.
