USC Trojans Transfer Portal EDGE Immediately Commits To SEC School

After Tuesday’s practice, USC Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley announced that redshirt freshman EDGE Lorenzo Cowan would be entering the transfer portal when it opened. It officially opened on Wednesday, and on Thursday, Cowan has already found a new home.

According to Pete Nakos of On3, Cowan has signed with the Kentucky Wildcats of the SEC.

Former USC Trojans EDGE Lorenzo Cowan Signs With Kentucky

Cowan grew up in Georgia, so a return to SEC country is not a big surprise.

While still a very talented player and young, Cowan began to slip down the USC depth chart.

A rotation of Anthony Lucas, Braylon Shelby, and Kam Fountain will likely be the starters for the 2025 season. Elijah Newby moved from Linebacker to EDGE, demonstrating his athleticism, and true freshman Jahkeem Stewart is already turning heads in spring camp.

Gus Cardova and Jadyn Ramos will be joining the roster as well in June.

At 6’3, 247 pounds, Cowan has elite size for the EDGE position.

The USC Trojans will turn their attention to players on the roster and the incoming freshmen getting to campus in the summer.
