The USC Trojans are not anticipated to make a large number of player acquisitions through the transfer portal this spring. However, general manager Chad Bowden, head coach Lincoln Riley, and their staff will remain attentive to potential opportunities.
USC Trojans Meeting With Boise State Transfer Portal LB

Veteran Boise State linebacker Andrew Simpson has surprisingly announced his intention to enter the transfer portal. Following an All-American season, the California native is expected to draw significant interest from numerous programs, including USC, where he is scheduled to meet with the Trojans this week, according to Connor Morrissette.
In a response to this reporting, Simpson re-posted Morrissette with the Trojans’ “Fight On” emoji finger gesture.
Simpson has been a valuable asset to the Broncos defense since the 2022 season. Over the past two seasons with the Broncos, the redshirt senior has recorded a total of 112 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, three interceptions, five passes defended, and five forced fumbles.
Acquiring a linebacker who can immediately contribute meaningful snaps appears to be a top priority for USC’s defense. Outside of Eric Gentry, who is coming off a season-ending injury, the Trojans are currently relying on Desman Stephens II to take a big step forward and Anthony Beavers to make the transition from safety to linebacker.
The St. John Bosco grad was not recruited by the Trojans ahead of his 2021 commitment to Boise State.
