The USC Trojans have the best college basketball player in the sport. Juju Watkins had another historic season, leading the Women of Troy to a Big Ten Championship. However, this team continues to be slightly disrespected.
They were selected as a No. 1 seed for the March Madness tournament, but they were given the lowest of the No. 1 seeds. UCLA, whom they beat twice during the season (lost to them in the Big Ten Tournament Championship Game), is ranked above them.
Now, the oddsmakers are the latest to jump on the disrespect train, which could ultimately pay dividends for USC fans.
USC Trojans Women’s Basketball Continues To Be Disrespected
Currently, according to BUSR.ag, the Trojans have the 5th best odds to win the National Championship. They have UCONN, the two-seed in USC’s bracket, better odds to win. The odds are as follows:
- South Carolina +222
- UCONN +248
- UCLA +600
- Texas +680
- USC +800
- Notre Dame +1150
It’s March Madness, so anything can happen, but being a one-seed and not even having the 4th-best odds is interesting. Because they are the 4th-ranked one-seed, they were put into the toughest bracket, so they will have their work cut out for them.
If things go their way early in the tournament, they will potentially face UCONN in the Elite 8. These two teams squared off during the regular season and the USC Trojans edged out a win 72-20.
The Women of Troy kick off the Madness on March 22nd at Noon PT against UNC Greensboro. The game will air on ABC or can be streamed on ESPN+.
