Latest Intel On Priority USC Trojans Recruit, Oregon Commit

The USC Trojans are pushing hard for the top prospect in California, and current Oregon commit, Mater Dei offensive lineman Kodi Greene. There have been rumors swirling of a potential flip, and while nothing is imminent, the Trojans are certainly picking up steam.

He will be in Eugene this Friday to take in Oregon’s spring practice, which will be his first time seeing the Ducks’ staff operate.

I have spoken before about how powerful these visits are, and he was just on USC’s campus this past weekend.

Kodi Greene Speaks On Momentum With USC Trojans

Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans hosted a slew of recruits throughout the week as they kicked off their Spring Camp. Greene was one of those visitors, and he spoke very highly of the visit and the coaching staff.

“The highlights were being able to see coach Zach Hanson coaching the O-Line,” Greene told On3. “Seeing him do that for the first time, and then also seeing him do that while it was the first day of pads, that was pretty cool to see. That was part of my highlights, seeing how he talks to his players and how he always has answers to everyone’s questions.”

Hanson has been the tight end coach during his three seasons with the USC Trojans. He moved over to the offensive line this past offseason after Josh Henson left for Purdue to become the offensive coordinator. Prior to coming to SC, Hanson was the offensive line coach for Tulsa, and he played offensive tackle at Kansas State.

He is considered one of the top young coaches in the game, is an excellent recruiter, and should have the offensive line unit the best it has been in the Lincoln Riley era.

You can get a glimpse at the kind of coach that he is based on what Greene says.

“Something stood out to me,” Greene continues about Hanson. “It’s fun for every coach, but every time a player had a question, he always had an answer immediately. Always had a solution to the problem, even when players did like minor mistakes, him and Coach (Grayson) Reed, the other O-line coach, they always corrected them – always on the players just making sure everyone was perfect. And once they told them to correct what they did wrong, the players automatically did it.”

Last year, the USC Trojans offensive line was a unit that began the season extremely shaky. They were absolutely dominated by Michigan and struggled against Minnesota as well. But they improved mightily throughout the season and finished very strong against Nebraska, UCLA, and Notre Dame.

Greene could bring some dominance back to the offensive line and re-establish the tradition of USC linemen getting drafted in the first round. But will he flip?

“USC’s number two right now,” Greene said of his commitment. “I’m gonna take these last couple visits and then I’m gonna decide – it might even be before OVs – I’m gonna decide if I’m staying or going somewhere else.”

Texas is also pushing hard, and he has a visit scheduled to Austin at the end of April. Sounds like an official decision will be coming sooner than later.
