There is a lot to be excited about with the USC Trojans football program right now. After an introductory press conference that saw the introductions of GM Chad Bowden, LB Coach Rob Ryan, TE Coach Chad Savage, and CB Coach Trovon Reed, the program feels like it is heading not only in the right direction but full steam ahead into the new era of college football.
But at the end of the day, a lot of what you do, and the success that you have, comes down to recruiting. And in the case of football, a lot of wins and losses can come down to who has the better quarterback.
The USC Trojans hosted their Junior Day with rousing success just a week ago, and blue chip 2026 QB Jonas Williams was a surprise visitor.
USC Trojans Remain A Strong Contender To Flip Jonas Williams

The 4-star quarterback out of Illinois is currently committed to Oregon, but USC and Lincoln Riley have made a strong impression on the signal caller.
“It was pretty fun,” Williams told On3 in an interview. “Obviously they brought out the red carpet for me and my family. It was a good experience. A lot to take in.”

For whatever anyone thinks about Lincoln Riley, his ability to recruit quarterbacks and then develop them is second to none in college football. Williams has taken notice.
“Coach Riley, he is the driving factor in my recruitment. He’s been recruiting me pretty hard. Also what they did with the 25 class and what they’re doing with the 26 class is pretty intriguing.”
USC football currently holds the Number 2 ranked 2026 class in the nation with a lot of momentum to move into the Number 1 spot.

“It’s one of my top contenders. I’m just taking it all in and grateful for the experience.”
Husan Longstreet is the elite 5-star QB of the Trojans 2025 class, and 5-star QB Ryder Lyons is trending heavily toward the Trojans for the 2027 class (will take his year-long mission after graduating high school). Jonas Williams would be a great addition to slot in between the two and anchor an already impressive 2026 class.
And, flipping a blue-chip prospect from Oregon is always an added bonus.
