The USC Trojans have put a huge emphasis on the secondary for the 2026 class. Not only have they recruited the position hard, but Doug Belk and Trovon Reed have landed commitments from top-tier talent.
However, one premium target, Oaks Christian DB Davon Benjamin, is now trending towards the Oregon Ducks.
After being favored with the Trojans for quite some time, Steve Wiltfong and Justin Hopkins of On3 have logged new RPMs for Benjamin to commit to the Ducks.

This would be a loss for the Trojans as he is from their backyard, but they are loaded at the position and trending with many others.
Do USC Trojans Still Have A Shot With Davon Benjamin?
There is one wrinkle, however. Wiltfong also reported just this morning that Benjamin will be on campus visiting USC this Thursday. While he put in a prediction for Oregon (only 50% confidence), he said, “There is optimism around the Trojans program and where they stand with Benjamin.”
There is still plenty of time for USC to make an impact, especially with the new front office and staff in place.
Benjamin is the 4th-ranked CB in the nation, according to On3 Industry Rankings. He comes in behind Brandon Arrington (potential USC commit), RJ Sermons (USC commit), and Elbert Hill (had a great visit with USC). Brandon Lockhart, another USC commit and huge advocate for the program, is ranked 6th in the nation.
It is worth noting that On3 lists Benjamin as a cornerback, while 247 Sports lists him as a safety.
Benjamin is from Corona, CA, but attends the famed Oaks Christian in Westlake Village. He has visited USC three times already, and Thursday will mark his 4th visit.
The USC Trojans have put an emphasis on California recruiting, and GM Chad Bowden emphasised that again yesterday during some media availability. He spoke on the California 2026 class potentially being one of the most talented that he has ever seen, and Benjamin would fit right in line with that. It will be exciting to see how this staff will continue to handle his recruitment.
