USC Trojans Trending For Elite Defensive Back

The power of a visit to campus, whether official or unofficial, is the best recruiting tool, and the USC Trojans have been making the most of them.

Over the weekend, 4-star safety Jett Washington was on campus, and the visit went very well.

Washington is the No. 3 safety in the 2026 class, per On3 Industry Rankings. He is the No. 1 player in the state of Nevada and attends the highly touted Bishop Gorman High School.

This was Washington’s first visit to USC, and it definitely paid dividends.

USC Trojans Make Statement With Jett Washington Visit

“USC is in my top five right now, and this visit did help them,” Jett Washinton told On3 in an interview. “I feel pretty good about the program and where it is headed.”

Washinton has not released an official Top 5, but per the On3 recruiting prediction machine, the top 8 listed are UCLA, Ohio State, Utah, Oregon, Texas A&M, Alabama, Michigan, and Washington. All of these teams were given at least a 7.2% chance of landing a commitment, and USC was listed outside of these 8 with a less than 1% chance.

This weekend’s visit clearly changed that and had a very positive impact.

“I got to spend a good amount of time with each one of them,” Washington continued to On3. “It was great being around them. They showed me where I fit in their defense and showed me what they do on a daily basis.”

His visit included time with head coach Lincoln Riley, DC D’Anton Lynn, and DB coach Doug Belk.

Currently, the Trojans have yet to earn a verbal commitment from a safety in the 2026 class. Both Joshua Holland and Madden Riordan are listed as athletes, so theoretically, they could and probably will end up being safeties at USC, but Washington would be the first official one.

Washington will be scheduling an official visit with the USC Trojans, and we will announce that when it is scheduled.
