It will be discussed at length throughout the offseason, but the Los Angeles Chargers must improve their wide receiver room before next year.
Ladd McConkey certainly has a very bright future, but the room is thin after that, and has many pending free agents. Former first-round pick Quentin Johnston improved mightily this past season, so it will be interesting to see how his role continues to develop within the offense.
That being said, Justin Herbert still needs more weapons.
Many receivers have been linked to the Chargers including Tee Higgins, Cooper Kupp, Davante Adams, and DK Metcalf, just to name a few. But there is another intriguing option that would be quite a bit cheaper.
Los Angeles Chargers Linked To Amari Cooper

Sportsnaut just released its list of free agents that all 32 teams should pursue, and they had the Chargers signing Buffalo Bills receiver Amari Cooper.
“The Los Angeles Chargers receiving corps needs a lot of work, but head coach Jim Harbaugh wants guys who are willing to buy into his culture. Amari Cooper made sacrifices as part of the Buffalo Bills offense, accepting a reduced role with a much lower target share to help the team compete for a Super Bowl. That’s the kind of mentality Harbaugh wants in the Chargers locker room. Plus, the 30-year-old wide receiver adds a veteran presence to a young offense and he wouldn’t prevent the club from finding a true No. 1 wideout long-term.”
Cooper may not be the dominating receiver that he once was, but he is still a valuable piece, and would take some of the pressure off of McConkey and Johnston, and would still allow the Chargers to draft a high-end WR if they desire one.

Per OverTheCap, Cooper made a base salary of $1.2 million this past season, so the Chargers would be able to sign him on the cheap.

They attempted to do something similar last offseason when they signed DJ Chark. The thought was to add a veteran receiver to a young room, but unfortunately, Chark was unable to stay healthy. Cooper would allow them to see this plan out without having to trade assets or break the bank for a bigger name.
