Los Angeles Chargers In Contact With Elite Playmaker, Signaling Trade Up Interest

We know two things are true about Jim Harbaugh and the Los Angeles Chargers. They want to and will run the football with purpose, and the tight end position will be a major part of the offense.

J.K. Dobbins had a comeback year with the Chargers last year, but he is set to become a free agent. Will Dissly had a career year, but the Chargers would be wise to infuse the position with more talent.

I am not one to get all hyped about which players teams meet with at the NFL Combine, but for those who do, the Chargers have reportedly met with two of the biggest stars in the NFL Draft: RB Ashton Jeanty according to Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network, and TE Tyler Warren according to ML Football.

Both Jeanty and Warren are two of the best prospects in the entire NFL Draft and would most likely mean that the Chargers would need to trade up in order to get either of them.

Does a meeting signal a willingness to do so?

Either player would be a home run selection for the Chargers and would fit in the offense perfectly.

Jeanty had a historic season in 2024 with Boise State. He helped lead the Broncos to the College Football Playoff and finished 2nd in Heisman voting. He is a true bell-cow back who has breakaway speed, tremendous burst, and can break tackles like some of the toughest backs in the league. He would bring a dynamism to the offense and take more pressure off of Justin Herbert.

Depending on who you talk to, Warren was the best Tight End in College Football last year. He truly did everything for the Penn State Nittany Lions and should transition seamlessly to the NFL. Seeing Will Dissly put up career numbers last year is just a small glimpse of what Warren could be in this offense.

His best game of the season came in Los Angeles against the USC Trojans, where he finished with 17 catches, 224 yards, and a touchdown. Perhaps there is something in the LA air that he could replicate with the Chargers.
