The Los Angeles Chargers are building on a successful foundation, having achieved an 11-6 record and a playoff berth in their inaugural season under head coach Jim Harbaugh. A key contributor to their offensive success was rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey, selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. McConkey’s impact was immediate and significant, as he led the team with 82 receptions and 1,149 receiving yards, while also contributing seven touchdowns. His impressive performance played a crucial role in the Chargers’ strong finish and playoff appearance.
But the team’s blowout playoff loss against the Houston Texans revealed they need more offensive weaponry. With a tremendous amount of salary cap space, many thought general manager Joe Hortiz would be aggressive in adding talent to that side of the ball, but as of Sunday, they have let two great options slip through their fingers.
Los Angeles Chargers Named Good Landing Spot For Cooper Kupp

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Los Angeles Rams are set to acquire star wide receiver Davante Adams, with plans to sign him to a two-year, $46 million contract, featuring $26 million in guaranteed money.
In a separate report, also from NFL Network, Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero indicated that the Pittsburgh Steelers are finalizing a deal to acquire star receiver DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks.
Earlier this offseason, the Los Angeles Rams communicated to veteran wide receiver Cooper Kupp their intention to trade him. This decision was made despite Kupp’s expressed desire to continue his career with the Rams, the franchise that drafted him in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
According to Bleacher Report, LA is still seen as a great landing spot for the veteran WR looking for a new home.
“Star quarterback Justin Herbert is missing a veteran presence in his receiving corps that would put the Chargers over the top as title contenders. Per Over The Cap, the Chargers are entering the offseason with the second-most salary cap space in the league, so they would have no issues absorbing Kupp’s $20 million salary for the 2025 season. Joining the Chargers would give Kupp the opportunity to play alongside one of the best young quarterbacks in the league while staying in the only city he’s known for his NFL career.”
