The Los Angeles Chargers’ search for a promising tight end has led them to host LSU’s Mason Taylor for a Top-30 visit, as reported by The Draft Network’s Ryan Fowler. This visit fuels speculation that Taylor, often projected as a second-round pick, could be a target for the Chargers’ 55th overall selection.
Los Angeles Chargers Welcome Mason Taylor To The Bolt

Taylor, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Jason Taylor, has seen his draft stock rise following impressive performances at the Reese’s Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine. At 6’5″ and 251 pounds, he brings a combination of size and athleticism to the tight end position.
During his three years at LSU, Taylor accumulated 1,308 receiving yards on 129 receptions, with six touchdowns. His final collegiate season was particularly productive, featuring a career-high 55 receptions and 546 receiving yards, establishing him as the first tight end in LSU history to surpass 100 career receptions and 1,000 receiving yards.
Taylor’s on-field attributes include fluid movement and the ability to create separation against linebackers and defensive backs. While his run-blocking requires further development, he demonstrates a strong effort in this area, adding to his well-rounded skill set. His pro day performance, featuring a 4.65 40-yard dash, 28 bench press reps, and a 7.06 three-cone drill, further highlighted his athleticism.
While a first-round selection might be considered a reach, Taylor’s potential makes him a viable option in the mid-to-late second round. For the Chargers, who are seeking to bolster their tight end position, Taylor could represent a valuable addition to their offense.
