Based on most mock drafts, the Los Angeles Chargers will be looking to bolster their offensive weapons. But according to Pro Football Focus, LA will be looking to add to the other side of the ball.
And while last year’s embarrassment against the Houston Texans in the playoffs proved the need for more skill positions around Justin Herbert, head coach Jim Harbaugh does prefer building up his team’s offensive and defensive fronts.
22. Los Angeles Chargers Draft EDGE Mike Green, Marshall

“With Joey Bosa joining the Bills this offseason and Khalil Mack nearing the end of his career, the Chargers draft their next pass rusher in Green. Projecting his landing spot is challenging due to his off-field question marks, but his ability isn’t in question. Green’s 93.6 PFF overall grade over the past two seasons was the best among qualifying FBS edge defenders.“
A disproportionate emphasis on Mike Green’s physical stature often obscures his more valuable qualities. His exceptional edge speed, aggressive play style, and overall game impact deserve greater recognition. As a pass rusher, he demonstrates significant explosiveness, effectively bending, capturing the corner, and finishing plays at the quarterback.
While his arm length may not meet the typical ideal for consistently outmaneuvering blockers in run defense, his impactful bursts of power allow him to shock and separate, enabling him to disrupt ball carriers. Notably, Green’s 17 sacks led the entire FBS this season, underscoring his potent pass-rushing ability.
