Mock drafts for the Los Angeles Chargers have become relatively straightforward, particularly regarding the team’s wide receiver needs. The Chargers’ limited activity in free agency, highlighted by the re-signing of Mike Williams, has solidified their focus on addressing this position in the upcoming NFL Draft. Despite Stefon Diggs’ availability, the Chargers appear to be prioritizing draft options.
Los Angeles Chargers Land Perfect Fit In NFL Draft

Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com’s latest mock draft reflects this strategy, projecting the Chargers to select Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan with the No. 22 overall pick.
“I won’t be shocked if McMillan goes in the top eight picks or if he slides into this section of Round 1,” Jeremiah notes. “There is a wide range of potential landing spots for the former Arizona star, but the team that drafts him will be getting a receiver with incredible size, body control, and ball skills.”
The wide range of draft projections currently circulating underscores the potential value of McMillan. If the Chargers draft a player considered by some as a top-10 talent at No. 22, it would be a significant coup. McMillan’s physical attributes, standing at 6’5″ and averaging over 15 yards per catch in his last two seasons, make him a compelling prospect.
Last year, Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz and the coaching staff demonstrated patience and then traded up to acquire Ladd McConkey, a move that proved successful. Now, the prospect of McMillan joining McConkey and Williams to form a formidable receiving trio for Justin Herbert is highly appealing.
While Jim Harbaugh aims to establish a run-first offensive approach, the competitive AFC West, featuring Patrick Mahomes, necessitates a balanced attack. A talented wide receiver trio would provide the Chargers with the firepower needed to compete in high-scoring games.
Selecting McMillan would still leave the Chargers with needs at tight end and the interior offensive line. However, the combination of value and upside that McMillan offers would warrant an A+ grade and likely translate into strong on-field performance.
