Los Angeles Chargers Draft TreVeyon Henderson After 2nd Round Trade Back
Pro Football Network’s Ben Rolfe predicts the Chargers will engage in trade negotiations during the draft, suggesting a potential trade with the New York Giants. Rolfe envisions the Chargers trading their second-round pick, No. 55, to the Giants for the 65th pick and a 2026 third-round selection. With the 65th pick, Rolfe projects the Chargers to select Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson.
“The Chargers running back situation is not secure long-term, with Najee Harris on a one-year deal and very little in terms of long-term options behind him on the depth chart,” Rolfe wrote. “TreVeyon Henderson could be that future star in Los Angeles as a back who can attack defenses in multiple ways and make them pay for missed tackles.”
While the Chargers’ acquisition of Najee Harris on a one-year contract is considered a shrewd move, his career average of 3.9 yards per carry underscores the team’s need for additional running back depth. With a deep running back class in the draft, the Chargers are expected to address this position.
Henderson emerges as a compelling option, having rushed for 1,016 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2024, averaging an impressive 7.1 yards per attempt. He also demonstrated his versatility as a receiver, catching 27 passes for 284 yards and a touchdown. This potential addition could provide the Chargers with a dynamic and long-term solution in their backfield.
