Los Angeles Chargers fans have been pounding the table for a wide receiver since before the team cut ties with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. It became apparent that wasn’t a priority for the team in free agency this year as all the top-end talent went elsewhere.
But in a glimmer of hope the team pulled the trigger and brought Williams back to the team. This of course led many to speculate if they would next add Allen. Whether or not that would be a good idea for the team, the rose-colored glasses of it all satisfied many.
Los Angeles Chargers: Keenan Allen Named Best Fit For Las Vegas Raiders

But, Nick Shook of the NFL Network offers the complete opposite, sending Allen to the Chargers’ bitter rivals the Las Vegas Raiders.
“The 6-2 Allen knows the AFC West quite well, thanks to the many years spent with the Chargers. By the end of last season, Las Vegas felt like an afterthought, but by hiring Pete Carroll and acquiring Smith, the Raiders quickly shifted their identity and now appear focused on climbing up the NFL ladder, with a group of veterans leading the way. Adding Allen to the mix will be fun, I promise,” Shook wrote.
Allen’s 2024 season with the Chicago Bears, while considered a “down year” by his standards, still showcased his consistent productivity. As the team’s No. 2 receiver, he recorded 70 receptions for 744 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games. This performance followed his offseason trade from LA
Despite his advancing age and a shift away from being a purely dynamic threat, Allen’s experience and skill set remain valuable. The former Day 2 draft pick would significantly enhance the offense, providing quarterback Geno Smith with a reliable target. Allen’s savvy route running and extensive experience would serve as a crucial asset.
Furthermore, Allen’s projected contract suggests he would be an affordable addition. Spotrac estimates a two-year deal worth approximately $22.2 million, averaging $11.2 million annually. This reasonable cost makes him an attractive option for Las Vegas.
