Los Angeles Chargers Could Solve Offensive Woes, Meeting Scheduled

While fans are probably mixed, the Los Angeles Chargers and head coach Jim Harbaugh have one potential home run scenario in the upcoming NFL Draft. Michigan tight end Colston Loveland falling to them at Pick 22.

We all know the history of Harbaugh and Michigan, so it does not need to be stated again, but any opportunity to add a Michigan man is not going to be fortuitous.

Loveland is the 1B TE in this draft class just behind Penn State TE Tyler Warren.

The Chargers just signed veteran tight end Tyler Conklin to a one-year deal yesterday, and still have Will Dissly on the roster, but neither is the talent that Loveland is, nor the long-term answer.

During Michigan’s Pro Day on March 21, Loveland told reporters that he has a meeting scheduled with the Los Angeles Chargers this coming Tuesday.

Coltson Loveland To Meet With Los Angeles Chargers

It is unlikely that Loveland is still available at Pick 22, but it is not unfathomable. And if he is, he would be the perfect selection for Jim Harbaugh.

While they need help at other positions, and fans will still want a game-breaking wideout, we kind of know what Harbaugh is looking for and what he wants his offense to be.

Similar to last year, when everyone wanted Malik Nabers or one of the elite WRs, it was obvious that Harbaugh and GM Joe Hortiz would draft Joe Alt…and they did.

So if Luther Burden III or Emeka Egbuka (Ohio State) is sitting there at 22, but Loveland is as well, I would be shocked if the Chargers do not select the standout tight end. For those fans wanting a receiver, you should probably start praying that both Warren and Loveland are selected before 22.

During his Pro Day, Loveland measured in at 6’6, 248 pounds. The meeting on Tuesday is more of a formality but also could be more of a checkup and evaluation of his health. But it’s just another indication to pencil in Colston Loveland to the Bolts.
