While veteran quarterbacks often forgo voluntary workouts, Los Angeles Chargers Pro Bowl quarterback Justin Herbert demonstrated his commitment by participating in the team’s recent sessions.
Herbert’s presence at these workouts likely reflects his desire to move forward from the Chargers’ disappointing early playoff exit last season, a Wild Card loss to the Houston Texans in which the team scored only 12 points and Herbert threw four interceptions. Known for his competitiveness and resilience, Herbert’s attendance clearly resonated with his teammates, including returning wide receiver Mike Williams.
Williams returns to the Chargers after spending the previous season with the Jets and Steelers. Prior to that, he played four seasons alongside Herbert in Los Angeles. During that period, the duo established a strong connection, with Williams recording 187 receptions for 2,797 yards and 18 touchdowns across 44 games.
Los Angeles Chargers Looking For That Old Connection

Given their history of success, Williams’ enthusiasm for reuniting with Herbert is understandable. Herbert’s decision to attend the voluntary workouts underscores his own eagerness to rekindle that on-field partnership.
“Just the past, everything we’ve done in the past, the amount of plays we made and having fun out there and celebrating with the guys,” wide receiver Mike Williams said. “Just excited to do it again and looking forward to it. I feel like we gained a lot of trust in each other over the years and I’m excited just to get back with him, get on the field and starting gaining that connection back and making plays again.”
