Los Angeles Chargers Mock Draft:

1st Round, 22nd overall: Matthew Golden, Wide Receiver, Texas

Matthew Golden was an easy pick to make here after his performance at the NFL Combine. Many NFL analysts have the former Longhorn skyrocketing up draft boards after he ran a 4.29 40-yard Dash. The wide receiver also had a 1.49 time at the 10-yard split. Golden has the speed and capability to be a great number 2 receiver behind Ladd McConkey.

Matthew Golden is currently the 4th-ranked receiver and 25th overall prospect, according to PFF. The 6’0”, 195-pound former Longhorn played just one year with Texas and two years with the Houston Cougars.

Golden finished his college career with 134 receptions, 1975 receiving yards, and 22 touchdowns at the two schools. Golden’s best game as a Longhorn came against Arizona State in the second round of the CFP, where he had 7 catches for 149 yards and a touchdown.

Golden offers a remarkable skillset that helped push the Longhorns into one of the best teams in the nation. While Isaiah Bond was expected to be the number one guy on the team, Golden used his versatility as an athlete to take the number one job from the Alabama transfer. Giving Herbert another former SEC receiver at his disposal could position the Bolts to have one of the best offenses in the league.

2nd Round, 54th overall: Tyler Booker, Guard, Alabama

If Tyler Booker falls into the 2nd Round, consider the Chargers a team who could benefit from the fall. Booker is one of the most exciting linemen prospects and arguably the best guard in the entire draft. Booker would fit perfectly alongside Slater and Alt, giving the Bolts one of the best trios in the league.

Booker is currently ranked as the best guard and 48th overall prospect, according to PFF. The 6’5”, 321-pound lineman played three seasons with the Alabama, where he started 38 games with the Crimson Tide.

According to NFL Next Gen stats, Booker had the best production score of all guards, with a score of 81. He had an impressive bench press score at the Combine, showing off his massive strength.

The Alabama prospect didn’t have a great showcase of speed at the Combine, which shouldn’t keep the Los Angeles Chargers from selecting him in the 2nd Round if he is available. The time he spent with the Crimson Tide has shown how capable Booker is at playing with the best of the best.

3rd Round, 86th overall: Harold Fannin Jr., Tight End, Bowling Green

I may be one of the biggest fans of Harold Fannin Jr. of Bowling Green. I don’t believe that there is a better fit for the MAC superstar other than with the Chargers. Fannin has the most production out of almost any player entering the Draft, and I would be shocked if the Bowling Green prospect lasts long on Day 2.

Harold Fannin Jr. is currently the 6th-ranked tight end and 97th overall prospect, according to PFF. The 6’4”, 230-pound prospect had one of the best performances at the Combine of all tight ends. Fannin produced the 3rd best overall tight end score of 84, according to NFL Next Gen Stats.

The former Eagle spent 3 seasons with Bowling Green, where he finished his college career with 180 receptions, 2396 receiving yards, and 22 total touchdowns.

Fannin Jr. is one of my favorite prospects in the entire draft. If the Los Angeles Chargers can draft the former Bowling Green tight end, the Bolts could end up with the best tight end in the league.

4th Round, 122nd overall: Jaydon Blue, Running Back, Texas

Jaydon Blue proved himself to be one of the fastest players at the NFL Combine after running a 4.38 40-yard dash. The Houston, Texas native is one of many University of Texas alumni entering the 2025 NFL Draft, and Blue may be one of the best when all is said and done.

Blue is currently the 11th-ranked running back and 124th overall prospect, according to PFF. The 5’9”, 196-pound Longhorn spent three seasons with Texas, where he finished with 214 carries, 1161 rushing yards, and 11 rushing touchdowns. Blue was also a weapon in the receiving game, where he had 56 receptions, 503 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns throughout his time at Texas.

Blue ran all over the field against Clemson in the first round of the CFP, where he produced 146 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns on 14 carries.

Jayden Blue could be a key addition to the Los Angeles Chargers’ offense, regardless of what the Bolts do during Free Agency.
