All-Pro Wide Receiver Interested In Joining Los Angeles Chargers

One area the Los Angeles Chargers need to address this offseason is wide receiver. They have a star in the making in Ladd McConkey, but the talent is lacking after that.

Josh Palmer is going to be a free agent, and the thought is that the Chargers will not re-sign him. DJ Chark flashed in training camp, but was injured most of the year and made little to no impact when he was available.

Quentin Johnston and Derius Davis both demonstrated improvement but going into next year with them as WR2 and WR3 would be unwise for an offense that mightily struggled in the passing game last year.

For as great as Justin Herbert is, he needs some pass-catching weapons. He was a top 5 quarterback in the league when Keenan Allen and Mike Williams were on the roster.

Many veteran receivers have been linked to the LA Chargers, including the great Cooper Kupp just across town.

On his latest Insiders Notebook, NFL Insider Jeremy Fowler just linked another All-Pro wide receiver to the Chargers.

Davante Adams Linked To Los Angeles Chargers

It is pretty much a foregone conclusion that Davante Adams will not be with the New York Jets next year. With Aaron Rodgers most likely gone as well, they seem to be in rebuild mode and need to get rid of their expensive assets.

Fowler writes:

“The Jets must address the future of receiver Davante Adams, whose $38.3 million cap hit is untenable. A source told me Adams is intrigued by a return to the West Coast and would be open to potentially joining teams such as the Rams or the Chargers – if he gets released.”

Trading for Adams and that salary would be a tough pill to swallow for the Chargers unless the Jets ate a lot of it. But if he was released, signing Adams to pair with McConkey would instantly improve the offense.

Adams isn’t what he once was, but he can still be a very productive receiver. In the final six games of 2024, he had 41 receptions, 576 yards, and 6 touchdowns.

The hot name on the free agent market right now is Tee Higgins, but his salary could end up at around $30 million per year. Adams would certainly end up being a cheaper option.

Thoughts on adding Adams to the Bolts?
