NFLPA Report Card Reveals Stunning Grade For Los Angeles Chargers Ownership

The NFLPA just released its annual team report cards for 2025, and the Los Angeles Chargers scored extremely well in almost every category.

Per the NFLPA, these report cards aim to “improve the overall working conditions for our players, which includes the daily experience of players at the team facilities away from the lights and cameras.”

1,695 players provided information about their current teams and working conditions. The hope is that the reports can improve the standard across the entire league. The categories graded are as follows:

  • Treatment Of Families
  • Food/Dining Area
  • Nutritionist/Dietician
  • Locker Room
  • Training Room
  • Training Staff
  • Weight Room
  • Strength Coaches
  • Team Travel
  • Head Coach
  • Ownership

The Chargers finished with an overall ranking of 5th, a great score. This should not come as a total surprise considering they just hired Jim Harbaugh (who scored a B+) and built a brand new beautiful facility in El Segundo.

They scored an A in every area involving the facility, Food/Dining Area, Locker Room, Training Room, and Weight Room. The players definitely took notice of the investment in where they show up to work every day.

However, what may come as a surprise to most fans is that Ownership, led by Dean Spanos, scored an A and 5th best among all NFL owners.

Per the report:

  • Owner Dean Spanos’s average rating for perceived willingness to invest in the facilities is 9.60 out of 10 from the Chargers players, a ranking of 5 out of 32 owners in the league.
  • The players feel that Spanos significantly contributes to a positive team culture, a rank of 10 out of 32.
  • The players feel that Spanos is extremely committed to building a competitive team, a rank of 10 of the 32 owners.

The reason why this is surprising is because it does not fit the national narrative that the Chargers have “one of the worst owners in sports.” That is what has been pushed for quite some time, especially after Spanos moved the team from San Diego to Los Angeles.

However, straight from the employees who work for him, he is actually considered one of the best in the entire league.

Times are changing Chargers fans. The storm is coming.
