As the 2025 NFL offseason unfolds, the Los Angeles Chargers‘ plans are gradually coming into focus. With ample cap space, 46 open roster spots, and a projected 10 draft picks in April, the team’s offseason strategy under coach Jim Harbaugh and general manager Joe Hortiz presents numerous possibilities. This abundance of flexibility makes them one of the most intriguing teams in the league as free agency approaches in less than a month. Information will begin to emerge at the NFL Combine next week, and subsequent player movement will follow shortly thereafter.
In his recent article for The Athletic, Daniel Popper lent his insider perspective on what the team may do at a few key positions;
Los Angeles Chargers Cut Candidates
Bradley Bozeman

“I would be shocked if Bozeman is the starting center next season. He was a fine one-year stopgap. The Chargers paid just over $1 million for Bozeman in 2024. He played more snaps than any player on offense. I think his performance matched his compensation. Bozeman is what he is as a player. He can move people in the run game when he can fire off the ball and attack downhill. He lacks movement skills, and he struggles in pass protection. This is what he showed on film in 2023 with the Carolina Panthers. And it is what he showed on film for the Chargers in 2024. But an upgrade is needed in the middle of the offensive line.“

Joey Bosa
“Joey Bosa has a $12.36 million roster bonus due on the third day of the league year, according to Over the Cap — so March 14. The Chargers would need to make a decision on him before then, or they would be on the hook for that $12.36 million, both in cash and cap. That is a pretty firm deadline.”
Trey Pipkins
“Offensive lineman Trey Pipkins has no such bonuses. His $9.25 million cap hit is equal to his $6.75 million base salary plus his $2.5 million in prorated signing bonus. The base salary is not guaranteed, so if the Chargers cut or trade Pipkins, they would save that money in space. The Chargers could make this move at any time this offseason to save the space. They have plenty of space already, so they do have the luxury of possibly waiting to see how they fare in the free-agent guard market before making any sort of move with Pipkins.“
