It has been a pretty quiet free agency period for the Los Angeles Chargers and a fairly frustrating one for Bolts fans. While overspending can be detrimental to roster construction and cause problems in the future, the Chargers have spent almost nothing and have quite a few holes to fill ahead of the NFL Draft.
One of those positions of need is tight end. There was a report that they went after free agent Evan Engram, but he ultimately decided to sign with Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos.
Currently on the roster, the Chargers have Will Dissly, Tucker Fisk, and McCallan Castles. Will Dissly had a career season in 2024, but he is best suited as a blocker, so Justin Herbert could use another weapon.
The Philadelphia Eagles just made TE Dallas Goedert available via trade, and Sportsnaut writer Jason Burgos suggested that the Chargers were one of the best fits for the Super Bowl-winning tight end.
Dallas Goedert Linked To Los Angeles Chargers

Dallas Goedert has had trouble staying healthy, but when he is on the field, he is a dynamic receiver. He would instantly upgrade the room and would be a potential Pro Bowler if he played the bulk of the year.
Last season, he only played 10 games, but he was on pace for nearly 850 receiving yards had he played all 17. He added 17 catches and 215 yards in the Postseason. For context, Dissly had a career year playing in 15 games and finished with 481 yards.
- Dallas Goedert Stats (2024): 10 games, 496 receiving yards, 2 touchdowns, 11.8 receiving yards
Goedert is 30 years old, so the asking price could actually come fairly cheap. The Los Angeles Chargers currently have four sixth-round picks, so those could certainly come into play in a move for the tight end.
Goedert has one year left on his current contract (2026 void) and has roughly a $12 million cap hit with $0 guaranteed. If the Chargers pursue and exercise a trade, they could give him an extension and move some of the cap hit. However, as it stands, the Bolts still have plenty of cap space for the 2025 season.
