Convincing reports suggest the New York Giants traded up to 25 to scoop Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart away from the eagerly awaiting Los Angeles Rams at 26.
In now-deleted social media posts, Field Yates even mentioned a trade between the Giants and Rams.
Regardless of the validity of these rumors, Dart was just one quarterback the Rams did their due diligence on this offseason. They also met with Tyler Shough, Jalen Milroe, and Kyle McCord. These three remain available for the team on day two.
After a trade with the Atlanta Falcons, the Rams now have pick 46 in the second round and 90 in the third round.
According to Nick Baumgardner of The Athletic, the next quarterback off the board will be Shedeur Sanders to the Cleveland Browns at pick 33. He also expects Shough and Milroe to come off the board in the second round and McCord in the third.

Los Angeles Rams QB Target Scouting Reports

Rams Day 2: Tyler Shough: HT 6′5″ | WT 219 | AGE 25.5
Tyler Shough, a one-year starter at Louisville, demonstrated productivity in head coach Jeff Brohm’s quarterback-friendly spread offense, characterized by play-action and spacing concepts. Shough’s college career is notable for its unique trajectory, spanning three seasons at Oregon and three at Texas Tech before culminating in an 8-4 record with the Cardinals in 2024. This marked the first time in his seven-year college career that he played in more than eight games in a season.
Shough possesses impressive drive velocity and body fluidity, enabling him to execute dynamic throws from various arm slots. He also exhibits better-than-expected athleticism, which aids in extending plays. His ability to accelerate his decision-making process when the pocket collapses is a promising trait. However, he needs to refine his eye discipline to maintain synchronicity with receivers while progressing through his reads. Overall, Shough’s extensive college experience is a consideration, and he would benefit from reducing high-risk throws. Nonetheless, he is a gifted passer with the functional mobility to make plays when plays break down. He has the potential to ascend the depth chart and contribute effectively on the field.
Rams Day 2: Jalen Milroe: HT 6′2″ | WT: 216 | AGE 22

Jalen Milroe, a two-year starter at Alabama, operated as a dual-threat quarterback within head coach Kalen DeBoer’s vertical-based offensive scheme. While showing promise in 2023 under play-caller Tommy Rees, Milroe’s 2024 season presented a more inconsistent performance, marked by unpredictable highs (against Georgia and Wisconsin) and lows (against Tennessee and Oklahoma). Notably, he recorded 20 rushing touchdowns but also threw 10 interceptions, with only five passing touchdowns, in SEC play.
Milroe’s athleticism is a significant asset. He is a dangerous weapon on zone reads, options, and power plays, possessing explosive speed that allows him to generate substantial gains at any moment; 20 percent of his 2024 carries resulted in gains of 10 yards or more. As a passer, he exhibits impressive arm strength, delivering the ball with considerable velocity to all levels of the field. However, he tends to throw with excessive force and needs to develop a more nuanced approach with varying speeds. His mechanics are somewhat disjointed, disrupting the rhythm of his dropbacks and leading to inconsistencies in accuracy, anticipation, and processing.
Overall, Milroe remains unpolished as a passer, both technically and mentally. However, his dynamic athleticism, characterized by a unique combination of speed, arm strength, and intelligence, makes him an intriguing developmental prospect for a patient coaching staff. His potential upside is difficult to quantify but is elevated by his versatility, as he possesses the tools to transition to another position if his quarterback career does not fully materialize.
Rams Day 2: Kyle McCord: HT 6′3″ | WT 218 | AGE 22.5

Kyle McCord’s 2024 season at Syracuse, where he was a one-year starter, proved to be an ideal fit. He thrived in offensive coordinator Jeff Nixon’s pass-happy spread system, which employed a diverse array of strategies, including play-action and heavy personnel. This successful transition followed his departure from Ohio State after a productive 2023 season, where a difference in vision led to the move.
Ryan Day sought greater quarterback mobility, while McCord preferred to avoid a quarterback competition. At Syracuse, McCord excelled, leading the FBS in completions per game (30.1) and passing yards (4,779) in 2024, surpassing Deshaun Watson’s previous ACC passing-yards record.McCord demonstrates timing, touch, and poise as a passer, consistently placing the ball where his receivers can make plays. While his aggressiveness can occasionally lead to unfavorable outcomes, it was also a crucial factor in his 2024 statistical dominance, which saw him lead college football in several passing categories and contribute to Syracuse achieving double-digit wins (only the third time in school history).
From a physical standpoint, McCord is considered average, and his limited escapability can restrict his options. He also needs to improve his eye work to better deceive defenses. However, he exhibits composure and possesses the anticipation and conviction necessary to succeed as a pocket passer when afforded protection and surrounded by capable talent. His projection in the NFL is as a backup with starting potential in the right system.
