The Los Angeles Rams are busy making roster decisions as the NFL offseason gets underway. Part of that process has involved giving Matthew Stafford a raise, ensuring the former Super Bowl winner remains in Los Angeles as the Rams’ starting quarterback in 2025.
Later, another part could involve the Rams moving on from former All-Pro Cooper Kupp in what could only be described as a cost-cutting procedure. It’s clear the Rams are pinching pennies, like many other teams this time of year, but they reportedly had a chance to add a future Hall of Famer at a fraction of the typical cost.

Aaron Rodgers may have been willing to join Los Angeles Rams at extreme discount

The Los Angeles Rams are moving forward with Matthew Stafford as their quarterback in 2025, but they also reportedly had the chance to add a future Hall of Famer at a fraction of the cost.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers had an interest in returning to his home state of California to join the Rams this offseason.
“Rumors were he was willing to take a deep discount to play for the Los Angeles Rams, maybe as little as $10 million—with proximity to his home in Malibu and the presence of Sean McVay and a contending team being powerful lures.”

As little as $10 million? That sounds too good to be true. As enticing as that may have been, turning away from Stafford, who just led the team to a playoff win, was too tough to do.
