Super Bowl Champ Predicts High Level Cooper Kupp Trade Partner

While the Los Angeles Rams didn’t get to the final round of the NFL playoffs, they did manage to be a big story in the week leading up to Super Bowl Sunday. Cooper Kupp and the Rams appear to be heading for a split and after a lengthy goodbye message on social media, the Rams franchise wide receiver is gearing up for what comes next.

At this point, any number of outcomes are possible for Kupp. He might be most likely, however, to join the AFC if the Rams elect to trade him. This way, the Rams can minimize the chances of meeting him in the playoffs in the future. One potential landing spot could be the Kansas City Chiefs, who appear to be reeling after an offensive implosion against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Speaking at a team press event in the team’s hotel before the game, LAFB asked JuJu Smith-Schuster about his opinion on Kupp and whether he had any hopes for the Chiefs to kick the tires.

“Yeah, man, I mean, he’s a great player. He’s my dawg. I would say with him have an opportunity to go somewhere where he can win again. He’s a great asset. I could see him being another Super Bowl champion,” Smith-Schuster said.

Kupp’s career with the Rams appears to have ended with 634 total catches, 7776 receiving yards, and 57 receiving touchdowns.

Heading into an age 32 season, Kupp still has some time left in his career. However, at this point, there are no guarantees for how long he will stick around.

Here’s the catch with Cooper Kupp

At face value, adding the receiver who has earned at least 700 yards in each of the last three seasons seems like a no-brainer. Of course, at that production level, he wouldn’t likely be the top guy on the depth cart. However, there is still plenty of room for a bonafide number two receiver.

That is all well and good, but according to Over the Cap, Kupp is set to draw a cap hit of $29 million and $27 million on his current deal. Adding Kupp would mean either agreeing to this or finding a way to rework some of the deal.

If the Rams agree to take on some of the money burden, it might go a long way toward securing draft capital. Of course, the magic question would be how many picks the Rams could secure for the wide receiver. How much of the financial burden they agree to take on could be directly tied to this.
