Los Angeles Rams Named Best Fit For Veteran Offensive Weapon Free Agent

The football world was in shock after wide receiver Cooper Kupp announced that the Los Angeles Rams informed him that they intended to move on from the 31-year-old, oft-injured receiver. The Rams followed that up with another shocking decision to sign 32-year-old Davante Adams. The other moves they made at the position were to re-sign Tutu Atwell to a one-year deal and to not sign Demarcus Robinson.

According to Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report, they should bring in veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen.

“Allen would be a solid fit with the Los Angeles Rams, who replaced Kupp with Davante Adams but also lost Demarcus Robinson in free agency. Allen’s ability to find space in the secondary would mesh extremely well with Sean McVay’s offense, and he’d be a terrific red-zone target for Matthew Stafford.”

Allen’s continued presence on the free agent market can likely be attributed to a combination of factors. Approaching his 33rd birthday in April, coupled with a history of soft-tissue injuries over the past three seasons, raises concerns about his long-term durability.

His 2024 statistics, 70 receptions for 744 yards, also fell short of his typical production. While he did manage to score seven touchdowns, the Chicago Bears’ overall passing offense struggled, impacting Allen’s output.

However, even if Allen’s prime as a perennial Pro Bowler has passed, he remains a valuable asset. His football intelligence, extensive experience, refined route-running skills, and reliable hands are undeniable. Moreover, he doesn’t carry the same level of significant injury risk as Stefon Diggs, who is recovering from a torn ACL.
