The Los Angeles Rams are strategically enhancing their offensive capabilities for the 2025 season. With the acquisition of Davante Adams, replacing Cooper Kupp, and the retention of Puka Nacua, Jordan Whittington, and Tutu Atwell, their receiving corps appears well-stocked.
However, this shouldn’t entirely deter general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay from considering a receiver with the 26th overall pick, should a compelling prospect become available.
Texas WR Named Best Fit For Los Angeles Rams

Yahoo Sports’ Matt Harmon suggests that Texas’ Matthew Golden would be an excellent fit for the Rams’ offensive scheme. Harmon highlights Golden’s proficiency in running in-breaking routes and his vertical playmaking ability as valuable assets.
“When I watch Matthew Golden, this guy should be an L.A. Ram,” Harmon stated. “I know he probably won’t be because they signed Davante Adams … I think really well in like the routes they ask of their complimentary receivers.”
Golden’s potential availability at the 26th pick adds to his appeal. However, ESPN’s projections indicate only a 30% chance of him falling to that pick, suggesting that other teams with greater receiver needs might select him earlier.
Golden’s impressive athleticism, showcased by a 4.29-second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, coupled with his 987 receiving yards and SEC-leading nine receiving touchdowns on 58 receptions last season, makes him a highly desirable prospect. He would initially occupy the No. 3 receiver role on the Rams’ depth chart. Given Adams’ age and his two-year contract, Golden could also represent a long-term investment.
While drafting Golden would entail some risk, it presents a dual opportunity. He could contribute immediately as they pursue a Super Bowl run, while also securing a talented player to solidify their receiving depth for the future.
