Los Angeles Rams Take Wild Swing In 1st Round In Latest Mock Draft

The Los Angeles Rams, bolstered by their young defensive playmakers, are projected to take another shot at strengthening their defense in the upcoming NFL Draft. NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah, in his latest mock draft, predicts the Rams draft Ole Miss cornerback Trey Amos. “The only question I had about Amos was his pure speed, but he put any concerns to rest at the NFL Scouting Combine with his 4.43-second 40-yard dash,” Jeremiah wrote.

Amos’s physicality and versatility have garnered attention from other draft analysts. Bleacher Report’s Cory Giddings described Amos as “a physical and fluid cornerback prospect with the size, strength, and athleticism to compete at the next level,” highlighting his strong press technique and ability to play both man and zone coverage. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein noted Amos’s disruptive nature at the release and “good short-area movement in man coverage.”

Jeremiah’s confidence in Amos as a first-round pick stems from his impressive 40-yard dash time. However, other analysts offer varying perspectives. Zierlein grades Amos a 6.28 prospect expecting he will eventually be an average starter. Giddings, while recognizing Amos’s “potential impact player” status, projects him as a second-round pick, citing areas for improvement such as tackling consistency and deep coverage technique. ESPN’s big board ranks Amos as the eighth-best cornerback and the No. 60 overall prospect, suggesting a potential third-round selection.

The Athletic’s Dane Brugler put Amos as the 93 prospect in his Top 100 list, writing “At six feet tall with 32-inch arms, Amos can match up well against NFL size. He is very scheme-specific, though, which will eliminate him from several teams. But his consistency in coverage improved each season.”

Amos’s collegiate career includes one season at Ole Miss, where he recorded 50 combined tackles, 13 pass defenses, and three interceptions. Prior to Ole Miss, he played one season at Alabama and three seasons at Louisiana-Lafayette.
