When news emerged that the Los Angeles Rams would be shopping former All-Pro wide receiver Cooper Kupp on the trade block, many wondered how the team’s receiving corps would fare in 2025. Kupp has since been released from the roster, landing with one of the Rams’ biggest rivals, signing a three-year, $45 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks.
However, the Rams were still able to find a viable replacement for the former Super Bowl MVP, signing Davante Adams to a two-year, $44 million contract. Some might even argue the Rams made a significant improvement to their receiving corps in the process.

Los Angeles Rams’ WR corps one of NFL’s most improved units of 2025 offseason?

It didn’t take the Los Angeles Rams long to find Cooper Kupp’s replacement. In fact, Sean McVay was able to convince Davante Adams to join the team before Kupp was even removed from the roster.
Yet, adding Adams likely gave the Rams the confidence to easily move on from their former All-Pro receiver, knowing they just replaced him with a three-time All-Pro. While Adams is roughly six months older than Kupp, he’s viewed as a sizable upgrade.
In fact, according to The Athletic’s Ted Nguyen, the Rams have one of the NFL’s “most improved” position groups of the offseason.
“Puka Nacua might be the best receiver Adams has ever played with, so Adams will theoretically see his lowest rate of double-teams since the beginning of his career. With coach Sean McVay’s play calling and Matthew Stafford’s arm talent, Adams looks to be set up for a rebound season. The Rams’ offense hasn’t had this sort of threat on the outside since Odell Beckham Jr. joined the team midseason in 2021 when L.A. won the Super Bowl.”

We’ll have to wait until the regular season kicks off to determine whether the Rams’ receiving corps truly took a sizable step forward by replacing Kupp with Adams, but fans should feel good about the move for now.
