Los Angeles Rams Meeting With New QB Option Now Set For This Week

The Los Angeles Rams have stated that their commitment to Matthew Stafford is officially a year-to-year prospect. While Stafford still looks to have plenty of gas left in the tank, the end is nigh.

What makes this particularly troublesome for the Rams is that they are also in win-now mode, making securing the requisite high draft pick traditionally used to select the future QB nearly impossible. Which means they will have to get wily to find their next signal caller, including drafting one this season, whether that is with the 26th pick or a later draft asset.

The team has reportedly engaged with several draftable options so far ahead of the draft. According to Adam Schefter, Alabama QB Jalen Milroe is one of those options. Milroe is taking a pre-draft visit with the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday and will meet later this week with the Rams.

Contradicting this, head coach Sean McVay said at the league meeting that it’s unlikely the club would draft a QB early, saying he hadn’t “done a whole lot of work on the quarterbacks.”

The Alabama product threw for 2,844 yards with 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 2024, also rushing for 726 yards and 20 scores.

The Athletic’s Dane Brugler ranks Milroe as his 5th best quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft class and expects him to go in the second or third round. The Rams currently don’t own a 2nd round pick and have two picks in the back half of the third, 90 and 101.

Brugler writes, “Milroe is unpolished as a passer, both physically and mentally, but he is a dynamic athlete with a unique blend of speed, arm strength, and intelligence, making him an intriguing developmental option for a patient coaching staff. His upside is tough to measure, but it is higher considering he has the tools to switch positions if his time at quarterback doesn’t pan out.”

McVay has publicly admitted to a lack of patience.
