Poona Ford, after spending his initial five NFL seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, where he regularly faced Sean McVay’s Los Angeles Rams, has now joined the Rams’ roster.
Following stints with the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Chargers, Ford’s return to L.A. was significantly influenced by his admiration for McVay. This appreciation culminated in Ford signing a three-year, $27.6 million contract with the Rams during the offseason.
Poona Ford Has Admired Los Angeles Rams Head Coach Sean McVay For Years

“The coaching staff is phenomenal,” Ford expressed via WTOC. “I’ve always been a fan of Coach McVay from my years in Seattle watching what he’s done over there and how he’s run his program. It’s been a big part of my decision.” During his introductory press conference, Ford described McVay as “a character” and a “good coach,” revealing his long-held desire to play under McVay’s leadership.
“I always watched him from a distance,” Ford shared. “Being in Seattle, and playing against him twice a year, I always knew he was a guy that I could see myself playing for at some point.”
Ford’s arrival bolsters a defensive line already featuring Kobie Turner and Braden Fiske. He is expected to play a crucial role as a run-stopper at nose tackle on first and second downs.
Furthermore, he brings pass-rushing capabilities, an area where the Rams’ interior defensive line has been lacking in recent seasons. This signing is considered a significant acquisition for Los Angeles, with the potential to enhance both their run defense and their interior pass-rushing pressure.
