Sean McVay, who assumed the head coaching position for the Los Angeles Rams at the remarkably young age of 30 in 2017, has, despite still being one of the NFL’s youngest coaches at 39, accrued a wealth of experience.
To date, McVay has resisted the temptation of early retirement, despite persistent rumors suggesting he might step away. When he eventually decides to conclude his coaching career, he will likely have a multitude of lucrative media opportunities at his disposal. He has already engaged in test runs as a game analyst and pundit, and in 2022, he reportedly declined a five-year, $100 million offer to provide commentary for Amazon.
Sean McVay Still Interested In Media Gig Post-Los Angeles Rams Career

With Matthew Stafford’s return secured for the 2025 season, McVay is focused on pursuing a second Super Bowl title with the Rams, having demonstrated their competitive prowess by challenging the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2024 postseason. However, this commitment to coaching does not preclude a future transition to media, particularly if a compelling financial opportunity arises. McVay acknowledged this possibility during a Monday appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
“I love coaching. Is there interest in [media]? Of course. But I think we’ve got some more stuff we want to accomplish. I love the group that I’m doing it with,” McVay said. “And if that is an opportunity down the line that presents itself, then I’ll be humbled by it. But I’m pretty damn happy doing what I’m doing and love what I’m doing.”
Following McAfee’s mention of rumors suggesting Amazon could offer annual salaries in the range of $25 to $30 million, McVay delivered a perfectly timed and witty response.
“If it was that kind of number then maybe we’d have to second guess that,” he said. “Hey, call me back Amazon!”
Given the accuracy of reports regarding McVay’s prior discussions with Amazon, it’s evident that he possesses a clear understanding of the broadcasting market’s financial landscape. According to Sportico, McVay currently earns $15 million annually with the Los Angeles Rams.
