The Los Angeles Rams traded back in the first round, which netted them a second 2026 first-round draft pick. A part of that trade sent their second third-round pick to the Atlanta Falcons, leaving the team with just the 90th overall pick in the draft.
In the second round, they found their Tyler Higbee succession plan in the Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson. They opted for Michigan edge rusher Josaiah Stewart in the second round, leaving the top needs in the draft unaddressed — cornerback, linebacker, and quarterback.
In the 4th round of the NFL Draft, the Rams traded up with the Indianapolis Colts and selected Auburn running back Jarquez Hunter. The Rams sent the Colts one of their sixth-round picks (190) for the pleasure of moving up 10 spots. They then trade up into the 5th round to select Ohio State defensive tackle Ty Hamilton. They traded back up into the 5th round to pick 172 to pick Ole Miss linebacker Chris Paul Jr.
With the 242nd pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Rams selected Konata Mumpfield, a wide receiver out of Pitt

The Athletic’s Dane Brugler ranked Konata Mumpfield as the 30th best wide receiver in the 2025 NFL Draft class, writing, Mumpfield doesn’t wow with size or vertical speed, but he is a route-running craftsman and finds open windows for his quarterback. His toughness and attention to detail should help separate him in training camp.
Mumpfield established himself as a productive and versatile receiver during his three-year starting career at Pitt. Playing in offensive coordinator Kade Bell’s up-tempo, spread scheme, Mumpfield demonstrated his ability to contribute from various alignments, with 62.2 percent of his 2024 snaps coming out wide and 37.4 percent in the slot. Notably, Mumpfield consistently found ways to be productive from the moment he joined Pitt’s program, regardless of the quarterback play.
Mumpfield excels at finding openings in coverage and displays a nuanced understanding of route running, characterized by purposeful pacing and effective salesmanship. He also possesses well-developed ball-tracking skills, enabling him to make challenging catches. However, developing into a more dynamic “run-after-catch” threat is an area for further growth.
