Los Angeles Rams Attempted To Trade UP For Top Offensive Weapon, Per New Reporting

The Los Angeles Rams turned heads when they attempted to trade up for Georgia tight end Brock Bowers in last year’s draft. Heading into 2025’s draft, the trade watch was high for the team again.

Diana Russini reported earlier this week that the team was looking to trade up for a tight end — likely either Colston Loveland or Tyler Warren.

But her latest reporting, “The Rams were making calls to move up and teams believed L.A. was seeking to draft Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan, per source. McMillan was selected by the Panthers at No. 8.”

The Athletic’s Dane Brugler ranked McMillan as the top wide receiver and the 12th best prospect in the 2025 NFL draft class, writing, “McMillan is only average in the speed and separation categories, but he is a long and limber athlete with exceptional tracking and ball-winning instincts. He fits the Tee Higgins mold as a unique playmaker, because of his size and catch-point skills.”

Last year, they whiffed on Bowers, but still landed Jared Verse, who won the Defensive Player of the Year. Can they manage a similar magic trick two years in a row?
