The Los Angeles Rams are heading into the 2025 NFL draft in the enviable position of not having many glaring roster holes to fill. This allows the team to take the vaunted best player available draft technique and plan for the future. One position they will need to address in the near future is tight end.
The highly regarded tight end from Penn State, Tyler Warren is generating significant buzz ahead of the NFL Draft. He, along with his college teammate Abdul Carter, opted out of the Nittany Lions’ Pro Day, as reported by Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda.com. Instead, Warren will conduct private workouts for several interested teams.

Warren’s pre-draft itinerary also includes visits with the Saints (No. 9), Bears (No. 10), Chargers (No. 23), and Rams (No. 26). While these teams may not have the same immediate need as the Jets and Colts, they recognize the potential value of adding a high-ceiling tight end. The Chargers, with Will Dissly and recent acquisition Tyler Conklin, could benefit from an upgrade at the position. Similarly, the Rams, with Tyler Higbee entering the final year of his contract, are considering their long-term options.
Pauline describes Warren as an “acquired taste,” noting that opinions on his ranking vary among NFL teams. While some consider him the top tight end in the class, others, including Pauline and ESPN’s Matt Miller, rank him second behind Michigan’s Colston Loveland. Conversely, NFL Media’s Daniel Jeremiah and ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. place Warren at the pinnacle of the tight end hierarchy.
Regardless of these differing opinions, Warren is projected to be a first-round selection. The New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts, both reportedly showing strong interest, are among the teams scheduled to host him for private workouts. These teams, holding the No. 7 and No. 14 overall picks, respectively, have a clear need at the tight end position.
It’s anticipated that Warren will be selected by the time the Colts make their pick at No. 14. Teams like the Dallas Cowboys, with the No. 12 selection, are also considered potential destinations. The success of Brock Bowers in his rookie season with the Raiders has further emphasized the value of a dynamic tight end, making Warren a highly sought-after prospect. The Colts, who missed out on Bowers in the previous draft, are keen to secure Warren if he’s available.
In his final college season, Warren recorded 104 receptions for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns. His versatility, reminiscent of Bowers, also includes four rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown.
