While it’s the offseason now, the Los Angeles Rams are coming off an extremely encouraging season that saw them sneak into the NFC Playoffs thanks to a 10-7 record. A heavy amount of drama has since followed, with questions about Matthew Stafford‘s future dominating the conversation.
We now know that the Rams will get their franchise quarterback to return for another season, and he’ll even be joined by star receiver Davante Adams. Yet, now there’s another report that could cause some trepidation among Rams fans.

Puka Nacua hopes to retire once he’s 30 years old

What’s in the Los Angeles Rams’ water supply? First, there were rumors of Sean McVay walking away from being an NFL head coach so he could go make even better money as an NFL TV analyst. That never came to fruition, at least not yet.
Then, word emerged of future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald wanting to hang up his cleats early. Those fears came true when the eight-time All-Pro game-wrecker retired at the age of 32.
Now, Puka Nacua is apparently eyeing a similar path.
Recently appearing on the Join the Lobby podcast, Nacua spoke of his desire to retire from the NFL “at the age of 30.”
“I know I want to retire at the age of 30. I think of Aaron Donald; to go out at the top, I think it would be super cool. But also, I want to have a big family. I want to have at least a starting five. I came from a big family so I need five boys, for sure. But also, like, I want to be able to be a part of their lives and be as active as I can with them.”
Puka Nacua on early retirement
As good as the one-time Pro Bowl receiver has been in a Rams uniform, he’s only played two seasons in the NFL. Unlike Donald, Nacua doesn’t have a Super Bowl ring or any All-Pro nods. In other words, he has a long way to go before making an impression that will last generations, like Donald did.
Then again, perhaps Nacua isn’t as focused on his football legacy as he is on making sure he’s as present as possible in his family’s lives.
