Sean McVay’s Frustration Boiling Over: “There clearly weren’t enough answers”

Not much went right for the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, falling to the Arizona Cardinals 41-10. In the post-game press conference, head coach Sean McVay didn’t hold back his frustration about the plan of attack used in the game.

His frustration was turned inward

“All I know how to do is try to go back to work and keep my head high as I figure out some better solutions.” McVay said, “There clearly weren’t enough answers for our players to go have success today.”

It was clear that McVay struggled to pivot when his original game plan fell apart. He pointed toward the Cardinals’ defense not allowing his plays to develop.

“You can’t really get anything going if you don’t have the opportunity to let stuff develop and we got a lot of guys in some different spots but it wasn’t good enough.”

Some of that is due to major injuries on the offensive side of the ball. The Rams came into the game already down their top 2023 receiver, Puka Nacua as well as starting left guard Steve Avila. Warren McClendon filled in for the suspended Alaric Jackson at left tackle. McClendon had not played much left tackle throughout his college career. And it showed, giving up four pressures and allowing three sacks. By half time they also lost Cooper Kupp to an ankle injury.

McVay admitted he doesn’t currently know the answer to how to right the Los Angeles Rams ship.

“Today was, like I said, not a positive day. I’m not going to have a lot of answers because I need to able to figure some out myself.”

“I’m not even worried about 0 and two. I’m worried about how do we play better football. That was
not a good product today that was not something that we’re okay with and I know I speak for our players and coaches.”
