Top 2 Matthew Stafford Trade Destination Emerge, Massive Trade Value For Los Angeles Rams

Matthew Stafford, quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams, has become a focus of considerable trade interest. A league source has indicated that the Rams have granted Stafford’s agent permission to engage in discussions with other teams regarding the quarterback’s contract. As a result of these discussions, team sources revealed on Wednesday that both the Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Giants have emerged as potential destinations for the Super Bowl-winning quarterback. It’s understood that both the Giants and the Raiders are actively seeking to acquire a quarterback.

Given the Raiders’ clear need to address their quarterback situation this offseason, their interest in exploring Matthew Stafford’s availability is entirely understandable. However, when questioned on Tuesday about the possibility of acquiring the veteran quarterback, Raiders General Manager John Spytek and Head Coach Pete Carroll both opted to refrain from providing specific details.

“I don’t really want to talk about other teams’ players,” Spytek said, “but I would just say that if there’s an opportunity for any player that we think can add value to the Raiders, we’ll look into it.”

With the second-largest amount of cap space in the NFL and the sixth overall pick in the 2025 draft, they possess the financial and draft capital to pursue a variety of options. This advantageous position sets them up in the ideal position to meet Stafford’s contract requests — +$50 million average annual value and the Rams’ perceived trade compensation — a first-round pick.

Giants General Manager Joe Schoen clarified on Tuesday that the team’s strategy for addressing the quarterback position this offseason will involve acquiring a veteran, irrespective of their plans for selecting a quarterback in the upcoming April draft.

“We’re going to have to address the position somewhere,” Schoen said. “And even if you get a young quarterback, you’d like to have a vet in the room with them to show them the ropes and how to be a pro.”

But Schoen also deflected questions about interest in Stafford, saying, “You have to ask the Rams. He’s under contract with the Rams, so that would be a question for the Rams.”

The Giants currently have just $38 million in effective cap space per OverTheCap but also own the third overall pick.

It has been reported that several teams have called the Rams inquiring about a Stafford trade. It was reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns are two more of those teams.
