The Los Angeles Rams have had a very successful free agency period so far, led by the signing of star wide receiver Davante Adams.
They were able to fill most of their needs and retain priority players on their roster. I still think they are not deep (or talented) enough at linebacker, but the signing of Nate Landman gives them a quality player with starting experience to play alongside Omar Speights.
Because of this, they can go into the NFL Draft and let the board fall to them and take the best player available. Knowing how the Rams operate, it would not be surprising in the slightest for them to trade back and recoup a 2nd-round pick, as they currently do not have one.
PFF just released their latest mock draft and they have the Rams holding pat at 26. Not only do they hold pat, but one of the top offensive players falls right in their lap.
Los Angeles Rams Select Offensive Playmaker In Latest Mock Draft

While just about every mock draft out there has the Rams selecting a cornerback in the first round, John Kosko of PFF has them getting Sean McVay the tight end that he has been dreaming of, Colston Loveland.
“After releasing Cooper Kupp, the Rams need a reliable weapon to play in-line and as a big slot. Loveland is the perfect fit for that role, as his length would give quarterback Matthew Stafford a big target over the middle of the field. While he lacks consistent power as a run blocker, Loveland, if utilized properly, can thrive as a weapon in the passing game,” writes Kosko.
There was real credibility to the rumor that the Rams almost traded into the Top 10 last year to draft Brock Bowers. McVay has been looking for a top-tier tight end to deploy in his offense, and if Loveland somehow falls all the way to 26, he would give him that.

Tyler Higbee has been really good for the offense when he is available, but unfortunately, he just has not been healthy consistently. He missed two games in 2023 and played in just three last season after suffering a gruesome injury in the 2023 playoffs against the Detroit Lions. He is also 32 years old, so the Rams need to plan for the future regardless.
LA has Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen on the roster as well, but Parkinson is suited best as a blocking tight end, and Allen has flashed potential, but entering Year 3, he is still a bit of a question mark.
Loveland measured 6’6, 248 pounds at his Michigan Pro Day yesterday. He would be a big body that can play all over the line of scrimmage, and give McVay and Matthew Stafford another viable weapon, especially in the red zone where they struggled mightily last year.
If Colston Loveland falls to 26, the Rams should be sprinting their card to the commissioner.
