For at least a portion of the offseason, there was some serious uncertainty that the Los Angeles Rams would return in 2025 as Matthew Stafford as their starting quarterback. Getting a contract adjustment and a raise eventually got Stafford to re-commit to playing for the Rams, but that doesn’t mean the team hasn’t started making future plans at the QB position.

While head coach Sean McVay recently indicated the team hadn’t done much homework on this year’s upcoming NFL Draft QB class. Yet, that doesn’t mean other members of the Rams’ organization haven’t been busy in the film room.

The Los Angeles Rams boast a total of eight selections in the 2025 NFL Draft, including the 26th overall pick in the first round. The Rams don’t have a second-round pick, which means their next selection won’t come until No. 90.

Of course, the Rams could always make a trade that results in them picking a player in the second round. Based on the latest prospect linked to the Rams in the NFL Draft, they could very well be eyeing a trade back from 26.

According to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, the Rams are one of several teams who have “spent a lot of time” on Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart, who’s viewed as a fringe first-round prospect.

“The L.A. Rams are a sneaky possible destination at No. 26. Rams GM Les Snead and coach Sean McVay need to get a young quarterback into their building with Matthew Stafford on a year-to-year basis after nearly leaving via trade in the early offseason. Dart has spent a lot of time with the Rams during this process, and some league sources believe that Dart to L.A. is a strong possibility based on a combination of mutual interest, fit and breadcrumbs.”

If not picked on Day One, Dart seems like a sure bet to come off the board on Day Two, likely during the second round. With so many teams desperate to land a potential quarterback of the future, Dart could wind up getting selected earlier than some project, which could easily keep him in play for the Rams at 26.

Though, doing so would really restrict the Rams’ chances of adding early contributors later on in the draft, since they wouldn’t have another pick until the 26th spot in the third round (No. 90). In other words, if the Rams pick Dart at 26, you better believe coach McVay is sold on the Ole Miss QB.
