There are still free agents available, but the Los Angeles Rams are probably done making any significant moves. So it feels like a good time to start looking towards the NFL Draft, and what prospects the Los Angeles Rams could target with the 26th pick.
On paper, even after re-signing Ahkello Witherspoon yesterday, cornerback is still the biggest need, and just about every mock draft out there has them taking one, albeit different players.
On the latest episode of the Rams LAFB Show, co-host Skinny T throws out a wild draft trade scenario that would certainly be met with plenty of shock.
Wild Los Angeles Rams Trade Proposal Would Send Shockwaves Through The NFL
During the show, both Ryan D and Skinny T were discussing potential first-round prospects who would be good fits. Skinny T then pitches a trade proposal that would not only fill a need for the Los Angeles Rams but would give them a generational player for the next decade.
“Trading up is something that I could see happening. So I’m gonna get real spicy here and I’m just going to throw out a big name on the draft board at the position. Nobody’s talking about this guy going to the Rams. Are they tempted like they were tempted by Brock Bowers to go get Travis Hunter out of the University of Colorado,” says Skinny T.

“How high up would they have to draft to go get Travis Hunter? I’ll say this, they don’t mess around these Rams when they want a guy. They’re gonna go try and get him. I’ll say that much. Is it rich? Is it stupid?”
This would certainly set the NFL Draft world in full-fledged chaos. Travis Hunter is almost certainly going to be drafted in the Top 5. Moving from 26 to the Top 5 would probably cost an astronomical amount of capital. Like 3 first-round picks astronomical, especially for a non-quarterback.
But what we do know, is if there is a team crazy enough to pull this off, it is the Los Angeles Rams.
While he is not a QB, Hunter is a generational player who can play on both sides of the ball. Imagine Sean McVay with that kind of toy.
Skinny T continues, “There is no cornerback that the Rams have drafted in the first three rounds of the draft other than David Long during the tenure of Sean McVay. Is it time that they pull the trigger on this and go get a generational player? He’s number one on some people’s draft boards, above every other talented player in this draft. So is this the year that they invest heavily in the position?
Hunter is a unique and compelling prospect, showcasing world-class athleticism and exceptional ball skills that allow him to excel on both sides of the ball. On the offensive side, his raw talent compensates for some technical deficiencies, particularly in route running. He possesses the burst to create separation at all levels and exhibits exceptional ball skills and catch focus.

His cornerback play, solid in 2023, improved significantly in 2024. Hunter seamlessly transfers his receiver skills and instincts to the defensive side, enhancing his ball-hawking ability and overall production. He displays great anticipation in both man and zone coverage, with burst and playmaking range that pose a significant threat to opposing quarterbacks.
Hunter has explicitly stated that he wants to continue playing both ways at the NFL level. If the Los Angeles Rams were to trade up to get him, with the investment that they would be making, it would be interesting if they would go for that, or decide to play him just at one position.
