The Las Vegas Raiders hit a home run in the first round by selecting phenom running back Ashton Jeanty. They had to wait for the remaining 26 teams to make their picks to know where they stand for their next pick at 37.
But given the team’s many needs, the rest of the league set the team up well, particularly at cornerback and wide receiver. Just three receivers and cornerbacks came off the board in the first round. With just four selections in the second round picking before the Raiders, they will have their pick of the best of day 2 options at both positions.
Las Vegas Raiders In Perfect Position In Second Round — CB, WR, QB and OL All On The Table

According to The Athletic’s day two mock draft, the Raiders will take a chance on Michigan CB Will Johnson.
“Johnson slid out of the first round for a few reasons, including speed and injury concerns. When healthy, though, he’s one of the best defensive players in this class. This could be a steal.“
But beyond Johnson, Iowa State WRs Jaylin Noel and Jayden Higgins will still be available, as well as, CBs Shavon Revel and Azareye’h Thomas.
The Athletic predicts that Luther Burden III will be drafted by the Houston Texans with the 34th pick.
If the Raiders are in the market for a young developmental quarterback, Tyler Shough and Jalen Milroe will be ripe for the picking at 37. Offensive lineman out of Minnesota, Aireontae Ersery, should be considered a player to watch.
The Raiders threaded a rare needle by snagging the best player available, but also meeting a big roster need. They have the opportunity to do that again in the second round of the NFL Draft.
