As the NFL Draft approaches, the Las Vegas Raiders have emerged as the team most frequently connected to Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty. While selecting a running back with a top-six pick is unconventional, many mock drafts predict this outcome.
With John Spytek entering his first draft as a general manager, his precise strategy remains uncertain. However, a humorous anecdote shared by Spytek sheds light on a strong personal preference.
Las Vegas Raiders GM Admits Son Bulling Him Into Draft Pick

“My oldest son has made it no secret that if we don’t pick Ashton Jeanty at six that he’s walking out of the family and he’s gonna find somebody else, probably whoever takes Ashton,” Spytek revealed on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “Jack is motivated by fantasy football and touchdowns.”
Spytek further recounted his son’s direct approach with team owner Mark Davis. “He walked right into our building and basically told Mark Davis if my dad doesn’t take Ashton Jeanty, he’s doing a bad job,” Spytek said.
Spytek’s candid sharing of this story has sparked speculation. Some wonder if it’s a strategic move to inflate Jeanty’s perceived value, potentially facilitating a trade-up scenario. Others interpret it as an indication that Jeanty’s arrival in Las Vegas is a foregone conclusion.
Las Vegas is in a favorable position, as it’s unlikely Jeanty would be selected before their sixth pick. However, should a team like the Dallas Cowboys express a strong interest, the Raiders could leverage this interest into a beneficial trade.
