Las Vegas Raiders Trade Window Closing For Elite WR

The Las Vegas Raiders are facing a pressing need to bolster their wide receiver corps. With Jakobi Meyers as the only established starter, the team should be actively seeking another playmaker to support quarterback Geno Smith.

General manager John Spytek could explore options in free agency or wait for the NFL Draft in April. However, a more immediate and impactful solution might be to pursue a trade for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

The 49ers are set to pay Aiyuk a $22.85 million bonus if he remains on their roster by Tuesday, a move that would likely remove him from the trade market.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, “49ers owe WR Brandon Aiyuk a $22.85 million bonus if he’s on their roster Tuesday, April 1. Once the 49ers pay that bonus, any trade talks for Aiyuk would be off, and he would be expected to spend the 2025 season in San Francisco. So Tuesday looms as Aiyuk’s unofficial trade deadline, and no deal currently is expected by then.”

Despite this, the situation remains fluid, and the 49ers might still consider trading Aiyuk. Should he become available, the Raiders should seriously explore the possibility. Aiyuk, who played only seven games in 2024 due to a torn ACL and MCL, demonstrated his potential in 2023 with 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns.

Aiyuk’s addition would complement Meyers and All-Pro tight end Brock Bowers, providing Smith with a versatile and skilled receiver. His savvy route running and proficiency in the intermediate passing game would significantly enhance their offensive capabilities.

While Aiyuk’s immediate future appears to be with the 49ers, a trade remains a possibility. The Raiders should closely monitor the situation and be prepared to act if the former second-team All-Pro becomes available before Tuesday’s deadline.
