Las Vegas Raiders Mock Draft:

1st Round, 6th overall: Ashton Jeanty, Running Back, Boise State

The Raiders are in desperate need of talent on the offensive side of the ball. Ashton Jeanty has proven that he is one of the most talented running backs that we have seen in decades. The Boise State running back took the world by storm through his unreal performance last season being just 28 rushing yards short of breaking Barry Sanders’ record of having the most rushing yards in a season at the college level. There is a massive risk in taking a running back this early in the draft, but the reward that Jeanty will most definitely bring outweighs any risk.

PFF currently has Jeanty ranked as the number one running back and 5th overall ranked prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. The 5’9” 215-pound running back spent three years with Boise State where he had 750 carries, 4769 rushing yards, and 56 total touchdowns. It’s extremely difficult to find any running back in the history of the NFL who has produced at the level that Jeanty did during his college career. In a game against Big Ten Champion Oregon, Jeanty produced 25 carries on 192 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jeanty has drawn comparisons to Alvin Kamara during the draft process.

Should the Raiders pass up a generational workhorse back like Jeanty at pick 6 if he is available? In my opinion, there’s no reason they shouldn’t take the Boise State running back. With trading for Geno Smith, the Raiders have no reason to draft a quarterback with their 6th pick and should take whoever the best player available is. There are some minor worries that Jeanty may struggle with pass blocking, but the pros completely outweigh the cons of his game.

2nd Round, 37th overall: Nic Scourton, Defensive Line, Texas A&M

Staying with taking the best player available, I have the Raiders taking a potential First Round defender in Nic Scourton with the Raiders’ Second Round pick. The Bryan, Texas native was expected to be a top-ten pick heading into the 2024 season, yet failed to live up to the lofty expectations he received from scouts during his final college season for the most part. Still, Scourton was a staple of the Texas A&M defense where he had several moments of brilliance in his ability to control the line of scrimmage.

Nic Scourton is currently ranked as the 7th-ranked edge defender and the 32nd overall prospect according to PFF. The 6’4” 285-pound defender spent two seasons with Purdue and one season with Texas A&M where he achieved 109 total tackles, 17 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles. While the stats don’t necessarily pop off of the page for Scourton during his time as an Aggie, his presence was felt by each offense Texas A&M played. Most notably against Missouri, Scourton had 1.5 sacks against one of the best offensive lines in the SEC. The defensive lineman has received comparisons to Shaq Lawson during the draft process.

If Scourton falls to the 2nd Round, the Raiders should leap at the opportunity to select the former Aggie. Scourton’s ability to defend the run has been questioned by some, but his ability to play anywhere on the defensive line or even at outside linebacker could be a remarkable gift for the Raiders’ defense who lacks an identity on the defensive side of the ball. Each pick is valuable for the rebuilding Raiders where Scourton could be a day one starter for the Vegas squad.

3rd Round, 68th overall: Darien Porter, Cornerback, Iowa State

Once again addressing a big need for the Raiders, I selected Darrien Porter with Vegas’ 3rd-round pick. Porter is a former wide receiver turned defensive back who has the perfect size to be a premier defensive back in the NFL. Porter was remarkably impressive during his final year at Iowa State where he showed a glimpse of his ability to cover good receivers in the Big 12.

PFF currently has Porter ranked as the 7th-ranked cornerback and the 59th overall prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. The 6’4” 200-pound corner spent 5 seasons with Iowa State where he had 51 total tackles, 6 pass deflections, and 3 interceptions. Porter looked like a future star in the Cyclones’ matchup against Iowa where he had two interceptions against the Hawkeyes. Porter has been compared to Zyon McCollum during the draft process.

Porter has the highest potential out of almost any defensive back in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Raiders need help with building up talent on the defense, and Porter would be an exceptional step in the right direction in building up a new identity for a new age Vegas squad.

4th Round, 108th overall: Aeneas Peebles, Defensive Line, Virginia Tech

Attacking the defensive line once again, I have the Raiders selecting Aeneas Peebles with the 108th pick. Peebles is slightly undersized at his position but makes up for it with his speed and aggression placing the Virginia Tech prospect as one of the most underrated defensive prospects in the draft.

PFF currently has Peebles as the 16th-ranked interior defensive lineman and the 113th-ranked overall prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. Peebles spent four seasons with Duke before spending his final season with Virginia Tech. Peebles had 118 total tackles, 10 sacks, and 6 pass deflections during his college career. Peebles shows a ton of promise through his time learning from defensive minds like Mike Elko and Brent Pry. Aeneas Peebles has drawn comparisons to Zyon McCollum during the draft process.
