Las Vegas Raiders Secure Puka Nacua-Like Prospect With 58th Pick

The Las Vegas Raiders traded back twice in the second round, accumulating a total of 11 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. But with the 58th pick, the Raiders finally pulled the trigger on an offensive weapon to complement Ashton Jeanty and Brock Bowers and another pass catcher for new quarterback Geno Smith.

Wide receiver was named the Raiders’ top by ESPN, along with running back, which have now both been addressed. Cornerback, safety, and offensive guard remain unaddressed thus far in the draft.

Dane Brugler of The Athletic ranked Bech as the ninth-best wide receiver and 72nd best prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft class, writing, “Bech’s acceleration is more build-up than immediate, and he will need to prove himself versus NFL press coverage, but he is urgent as a route runner with the ball-winning skills and competitive personality that will play. He has experience both inside and outside, and his play style is reminiscent of Puka Nacua.”

Jalen Bech’s college career includes a notable 2024 season at TCU, where he was a one-year starter and primarily operated as an outside receiver (primarily to the right of the formation) in offensive coordinator Kendal Briles’ up-tempo, spread attack. His journey also includes time at LSU, where, as a true freshman hybrid receiver/tight end, he led a talented pass-catching group (Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas Jr., Kayshon Boutte, Trey Palmer) in receptions in 2021. Following a coaching change in Baton Rouge, he transferred to TCU, where he overcame injuries in 2023 to achieve a breakout senior season. In 2024, Bech became only the fifth player in TCU history to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in a season.

Bech demonstrates smooth athleticism and physicality, enabling him to effectively navigate routes with gear changes and route savvy (head fakes, body lean). He is a skilled ball tracker and exhibits exceptional confidence in his ability to adjust, frame, and complete catches, evidenced by a single drop on 91 targets in 2024. While not possessing elite dynamism, Bech’s overall skill set makes him a reliable and productive receiver.
