Pete Carroll coaching the game of football is good for the NFL, and Pete Carroll coaching the Las Vegas Raiders is a home run.
When Mark Davis announced that Carroll would be the storied franchise’s next head coach, it infused an energy into the fan base, but also a belief in direction and structure.
When Antonio Pierce was named the interim head coach and then retained the position, there is no denying that there was energy, but was it energy with a purpose?
That is what feels different with Pete Carroll.
But a fan base feeling something can sometimes be entirely different than what the players are feeling.
The player who has been honest about where he stands with the organization is Maxx Crosby. He stated, in a paraphrased way, that this coaching hire was extremely important in his decision-making on whether he would want to continue being a Raider or not.
Crosby is the face of Raider Nation, so a stamp of approval from him is extremely important.
Maxx Crosby Speaks Candidly About Raiders Direction

Crosby was a guest on PFT Live and spoke about Pete Carroll and what the energy and optimism are like in the building.
“I’ve had doubts in the past,” Crosby said. “I feel like this past year was the hardest part of my career. Battling through injury the whole year, struggling, losing 10 games in a row. Up here, it makes you start questioning a lot of things.”
He continued to say that thanks to the arrival of Carrol, new General Manager John Spytek, and the presence of Tom Brady in ownership, he is “the most optimistic” he’s been since being drafted by the Raiders.
As Pete Carroll continues to build his staff, the optimism continues to grow, but he still has one big hurdle to overcome…who will play Quarterback, the most important position on the field.
According to Jay Glazer, who spoke with NBC on Radio Row, the marriage between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Russell Wilson seems to be over.
Could we see a reunion between Carroll and Wilson in Silver and Black?
