The Los Angeles Rams granted Matthew Stafford’s representatives permission to engage in discussions with other teams regarding a potential trade. Almost immediately, Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady seized this opportunity. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Brady has initiated contact with Stafford’s camp to explore the possibility of Stafford joining Las Vegas this season.
Not only has Brady been in contact with Stafford, but according to Jordan Schultz they spent a short getaway together.
Las Vegas Raiders: Matthew Stafford Joins Tom Brady At His Home In Montana

“Raiders minority owner Tom Brady recently hosted Rams Stafford at his home in Montana, where they spent time together and went skiing. Brady has been actively trying to convince Stafford to join the Raiders, and discussions are ongoing. Several teams are interested in Stafford if the Rams decide to move him, with Las Vegas believed to be the most aggressive suitor,” Schultz posted to social media.
A report from Ian Rapoport disputes the previous reporting; “Raiders minority owner Tom Brady and Rams QB Stafford ran into each other at a ski resort in Montana, sources say. The meeting, unplanned, was not extensive or in-depth and did not include Brady “hosting” or “recruiting” Stafford, despite reports saying otherwise.”
For the Raiders to secure Stafford, they face two key hurdles: reaching a trade agreement with the Rams regarding compensation and securing Stafford’s agreement to play for Las Vegas. The latter will likely hinge on the team offering a contract that significantly exceeds his current $27 million salary for the upcoming season.
Currently, the Rams’ trade demands and Stafford’s desired contract terms remain undisclosed. But the reporting suggests they have been seeking a first-round pick in the upcoming draft, where Las Vegas have the third overall selection.
While the Rams have publicly expressed their desire to retain Stafford, their reluctance to commit to a substantial new contract for a 37-year-old quarterback suggests they are open to a trade if presented with a compelling offer. Therefore, while a Stafford trade is not guaranteed, interested teams are free to pursue discussions. Notably, Brady is actively participating in addressing the team’s quarterback needs.
