Former 1st Round Bust QB Linked To Las Vegas Raiders In Latest NFL Rumors

The Las Vegas Raiders are planning a comprehensive search for a new quarterback in 2025, and their exploration may include Denver Broncos quarterback Zach Wilson, who is set to become a free agent. According to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, rumors circulating at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis this week have connected the Raiders to Wilson.

Zach Wilson Included In The Las Vegas Raiders QB Search In New NFL Rumor

“Obviously, there’s a long way to go with the Raiders QB room, but a name that keeps coming up here in Indianapolis, at least in terms of bringing into the mix, is Zach Wilson,” Bonsignore posted to social media

the former No. 2 overall pick by the New York Jets in 2021, has yet to fulfill the high expectations that accompanied his entry into the NFL.

Following a difficult tenure with the Jets, Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos last offseason. He spent the final year of his $35 million rookie contract as the third-string quarterback, behind Bo Nix and Jarrett Stidham, and did not see any regular-season action.

While he performed relatively well in the preseason, this limited exposure is insufficient to suggest he’s on a path to redemption.

Given the current quarterback uncertainty, taking a chance on Wilson isn’t without merit. He could compete for a backup role and provide the team with a young quarterback to develop if he earns a roster spot. If the experiment fails, the financial risk would be minimal, as Wilson is expected to be available at a low cost in free agency.

According to Spotrac, Wilson is projected to receive a one-year, $3.3 million deal, likely with minimal or no guaranteed money. The Raiders possess substantial cap space, affording them the flexibility to explore various quarterback options in hopes of finding a long-term solution.

In other NFL rumors, Las Vegas is also stepping up its efforts in recruiting Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. Tom Brady has been active in reaching out to the 37-year-old gunslinger.
